The News Librarians will support Asharq with the creation and management of the archive, providing high standard archiving services and cataloguing a variety of content types including VTs, rushes and feeds. Shift work will be required.
Archive and accurately catalogue media, ensuring the content can easily be searched and located by the production teams, and copyright and restrictions are clearly flagged.
Undertake the technical processes necessary for the media to be efficiently archived.
Train and educate production staff and technical teams to create awareness of archiving requirements and best practice.
Effectively establish and maintain clear lines of communication with the production and engineering teams to ensure that any potential archiving or copyright issues are highlighted at the earliest opportunity.
Work closely with media managers and engineering to troubleshoot and resolve archiving workflow and technical workflow issues.
Support the Senior Manager with development and implementation of new archiving polices and technology.
Establish and follow defined change control processes in relation to archiving policies.
Work with the Senior Manager, workflow engineers and production teams to ensure use of efficient archiving technology and processes.
Train and educate production staff and technical teams to create awareness of archiving requirements, search and retrieval processes and best practice.
Media management, cleaning and maintenance of server space for production and archive.
An ability to adapt rapidly to new technologies would be advantageous.
You may also be required to carry out any other duties within the scope and purpose of the department.
Archiving and digital asset management systems.
Experience in Libraries management
Experience in TV & News data management
Fluent in Both Arabic and English
Excellent IT Skills
Understanding of copyright and restrictions affecting re-use or resale of media.
